UDF in Kerala Promises Rice at Re1/ kg to BPL Families

Image of rice_sack_1rs_election_2011In the wake of upcoming election polls on the state Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala has promised 36 lakh jobs, Re1 a kg rice for BPL families, farm loans at 3% interest and free bi-cycles to class X students in its election manifesto for the April 13 assembly elections, The manifesto promised to provide 25kg of rice at Re1 to below poverty line (BPL) families and at Rs2 per kg to other ration card holders.
